  • Starfleet Special Operations (Starfleet Intelligence & Special Ops)

Starfleet Special Operations is a sub department of Starfleet Intelligence tasked with covert operations against hostile enemies of the Federation. Their primary goal is to achieve a political or military objective where a conventional force requirement would likely adversely affect the overall strategic outcome.

Special operations are usually conducted in a low-profile manner designed to achieve the advantages of speed, surprise, and violence of action against an unsuspecting target. They are normally carried out with limited numbers of highly trained personnel that are adaptable, self-reliant, and able to operate in all environments, using unconventional combat skills and equipment. Special operations are usually implemented through specific, tailored intelligence.

  • Civilian Affairs (USS Artemis Personnel)

Civilians play an important role in Starfleet. Many civilian specialists across a number of fields work on occasion with Starfleet personnel as a Mission Specialist. In other cases, extra ship and station duties, such as running the ship's lounge, are outsourced to a civilian contract.
